Presidential Candidates Speak Out Against Ethanol

Could there be light at the end of the tunnel?

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama recently stated that the Feds need to rethink their support for corn-based ethanol, given its impact on food prices. He's stated that his top priority is making sure people have enough to eat and if that means changes to the ethanol policy, then so be it.

Senator John McCain has asked the Environmental Protection Agency to loosen it mandate to blend ethanol and other renewable fuels in to the gasoline supply because of its impact on food costs.

Senator Hillary Clinton expressed a desire to make ethanol from cellulose waste products so that it does not undermine food production and accelerate prices.

It's great to see that all three candidates want to stop the insanity supported by George Bush and senators representing farm states. It still amazes me that they are too blind to see that they are harming the world in order to artificially support the few.

Now, if we could only open John Baird's eyes .....
